I love the challenge and freedom of this approach. I’m doing some strategy work with the amazing OCHO Chocolate Company and it’s highly applicable. Really enjoy your posts Alex M H Smith!

I love a good data set, but even better when someone has taken that data and created stunning visual representations to dramatically increase the accessibility and impact of the data. I'm proud of my colleagues at the Latin America Centre of Asia-Pacific Excellence who have created this leading edge data visualisation tool to demonstrate and promote connections between New Zealand and the region. It shows our trade, including tech and agri, diplomatic links, education exchange, research partnerships and a lot more. It's all free to use and any of the graphics can be downloaded for use in presentations and briefings. Very cool!#datainsights #wayfindingLANZ Matthew O'Meagher Nicole Freeman Aaron H.https://lnkd.in/gmD8f599

I met Cathan Bowler at an APEC Voices of the Future dinner last year and was so inspired by our conversation. Cathan is a young leader with a vision to inspire 100 other leaders and part of that is an excellent podcast where he interviews excellent New Zealanders. I've listened to about 5 episodes so far and learned a lot from each one. It's so good to have great local content to listen to. I love Cathan's curious and respectful approach to interviewing. Definitely recommend checking out The Story Hub podcasts if you're looking for something new for your ears. Wishing you all the very best as you continue to inspire us Cathan! My favourite episodes so far have been:Season 1, Ep 7 with Andrew NicolSeason 1, Ep 6 with Renae SmartSeason 2, Ep 3 with Jeff McLuckieSeason 3 Ep 1 with Brent McConnell, owner of beloved outdoor brand Stoney Creek (Shamefully I didn't know this was a NZ brand!)https://lnkd.in/g5wNMq3y

I'm impressed to see University of Otago's approach to providing a pathway to students who missed gaining UE by a few marks. The Pathway diploma programme means that instead of students needing to complete another whole year of study, they will be able complete their degree alongside their peer group and get the extra support they need to thrive academically. It's so important to provide inclusive education pathways and think differently about the traditional paths and access to education.https://lnkd.in/gv7nfDmW

I’m in Sydney about to take a sip of one of the best examples of branding I’ve seen in a long time. Liquid Death with the tagline ‘Murder your thirst’ is simply mountain water in a can. It’s not available in New Zealand so I was pretty excited when we saw it advertised at our local 7-Eleven. I listened to an interview with the founder, Mike Cessario a few years ago and was so impressed with his approach to brand disruption. A massive departure from all the usual pure and fresh usually associated with water brands. As a side note, a guy in 7-Eleven was so interested in what I was buying thinking it was some cool energy drink. He loves NZ but can’t visit any more due to a criminal record. Take from that what you like about target market!

Wonderful to hang out with Milly Tamati founder of Generalist World over a long lunch today at Startup Dunedin. Milly talked about the importance of optimism/delusion, focused use of funds, and building a personal brand and other very useful advice for bootstrapped start ups. I’m only just learning about Generalist World - it’s an awesome community supporting career generalists to thrive. As a generalist, I’ve been waiting for this to exist!!

So looking forward to hearing some fresh perspectives from excellent speakers! It’s online and only $20 which seems like a bargain to me.
